Linear and angular position transducers allow for the detection of the position of moving mechanical parts. Absolute position detection occurs in real-time thanks to potentiometric technology where the resistive track and collector are electrically connected via direct contact brushes, mounted on a slider, which serves as the physical source of the position. The body of the position transducers is made from various materials such as anodized aluminum, stainless steel AISI 316, or PBT plastic loaded with fiberglass, where the latter is a polymer mainly used in the automotive sector, resistant to UV rays, saline mists, acids, and other aggressive agents. Gefran potentiometers are voltage dividers powered from 1 to 60Vdc. The reduced dimensions make the PY3 model transducer suitable for installation in tight spaces and for detecting small displacements, providing a reduction in mechanical inaccuracies. The lateral electrical connection allows for a through-stem mechanical structure with double support for the rod, ensuring greater repeatability of the electrical position signal and overall robustness of the transducer. The return spring allows for automatic return of the stem to the zero position, making the transducer suitable for probing detection applications. The tip with a ball bearing is suitable for applications where the object to be detected may be subject to transverse displacements relative to the transducer axis (the rod is locked against rotation). Ideal for flatness or thickness control for panels of different materials, it can also be used for valves or mechanical parts where it is not possible to mechanically fix the stem to the moving part.
